2010

Today's event was so well organized and fun. I want to thank everyone who volunteered. My tiny dog held up just fine the whole way and she ran better than ever. The weather was perfect, the people were so helpful, it was a great event. I would certainly do it again next year. Thank you so much for arranging this. It was a lot of fun for the whole family. Thanks, Ken Fishkin

Thanks again, look forward as always to seeing your updates and the race again next year. Stephanie Cooper

Just a quick note of thanks for organizing such a wonderful event.  I know how much time, energy, and passion you put into it and want you to know how much the participants and spectators appreciate your efforts.  Once again, my whole family had a tremendous time at the race.  Unfortunately, my older daughter’s birthday party/fundraiser got pushed out a few weeks, so she was unable to present her donations at the race this year (she was very disappointed).  I did speak with one of the volunteers from St. Hubert’s prior to the race, and made arrangements to deliver the donations to the shelter within the next few weeks.

On a side note, your dog Ryan was crying a bit for her mommy during the awards ceremony, so my younger daughter joined her in the enclosure to keep her company.  She was wearing her doggy ears and certainly looked like she could have been a shelter dog available for adoption.  Fortunately, we were able to claim her after the awards ceremony and take her home.  The good news is that she is crate trained and has all her shots.

Congratulations again on another successful event!  Jim Galbraith, Dakota, and family

What a fun race!  What a nice family the Prebenda's are!  I can see why you are so fond of them (all!).  Margo was wonderful with Maggie and she is such an interesting person.  It sounds like she will have a very interesting experience in NYC with her new job.  I so appreciate you pairing us up, I think we gabbed the entire route.  Thank you for all you have done to make the race(s) a success.  You also picked perfect weather!  You are amazing!!  Claudia Orton & Razzie (Note Claudia’s dog Maggie was paired with Margo Prebenda)

You did a wonderful job at the Hounds & Harriers event.  I was so impressed with how smoothly everything went.  I can only imagine how much work you had to do ahead of time to accomplish that!  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it.  I had fun.  Take care, Joan Raab (volunteer)

Thanks!  Great race as always - very well organized and great prizes for the dogs and humans!  All your hard efforts really pay off!  Angie Dello

Just wanted to let you know that Grady Blu and I had such a great time at your race....We had a very different perspective this year;.  We took our time, stopped often, even played in someone's sprinkler for a couple of minutes...but it doesn’t matter where we placed, we still had a blast and for a worthy cause...  A perfect day!  Grady is still pooped a day later, he made a big effort.  Thanks, Karen Giacomantonio and Grady Blu

Thank you.  The race was really great, as always.  I loved my job this year - had a blast.  Talk with you soon.  -Joel.Vaag, volunteer sweep

Kudos to you!  Glad I was able to be part of this great event – thanks to you and your incredible hard work.  Annie Murphy

Great race today, thanks so much to you and all of your volunteers, and the race Gods for a perfect day!  This is one, if not my favorite race I do all year, thanks for all of the time and effort in putting it on.  Jersey had a small injury, nothing major, just a blister on her paw, but you wouldn't have know it during the run, she had her eyes on the prize!

I am sorry I couldn’t have stayed, but we have to be in NYC for the Food and Wine Festival shortly, sorry.  I met some of the other runners, and made a few contacts; will be racing with a few of them tomorrow at a triathlon, very neat!
Thanks again, would like to meet up sometime at an event, or at St. Huberts.  Can't wait to see the photos and video of the course!  Best Regards.  Glenn Hartrick & Jersey

Just finally made it home, what a day, both athletically and beautiful wise; can't beat these last two days.  (Glenn placed 3rd in a triathlon on the day after H&H)  When I woke up this morning and got to the race in Clinton, the gauge on the car said "ICE", or 36...a bit cold, but once the sun came out all was well.

Not sure if you saw, but Jersey scraped her paw, (wouldn't have know by how she was running), but has equivalent to a blister I would get; but all is well, we have the winter booties on her (although she doesn't care for those too much!)  I love the video in the news, she wanted to take it right after we finished, but it turned out well, she didn't add the part where I thanked you and all of the volunteers for the great job you did and continue to do.

Jersey took her gift card and found a few new toys so she is happy, I have set aside 1/2 for her and toys, and 1/2 for dog food....I know that’s bad but she eats a lot!  Thanks again, I can't say it enough.  Glenn Hartrick

You're amazing! Sorry I couldn't stay but I had to run and see my niece play softball. She pitched a no hitter! Love the t-shirt? Is that Sunchi and Oreo I see?  Alison Deeb, volunteer (Sunchi and Oreo were my first two dogs…this is not them.  It is my Brittany Ryan’s littermate running with her best friend)

It was a very fun day, thanks to all your great organizing!  Glad to help out, Mary English

Great pictures .....and of course a great time.....We were so happy to see Mandie come dashing in...Joe was very impressed....and she got a lot of attention from people watching including the Daily Record.....I saw the pictures on their web site but not the video.....???......

Joe and Mandie passed Matts science teacher, Lisabeth Muller and her friend, Joy Carter toward the end...They were very impressed that Mandie scooted by their huge German Shepherds.....

Matt and Dakota did well...Matt said Dakota really pulled and cried while Dillon and I were in sight....then settled down and did well but got tired at the end....She's got to lose a little weight.  Matt will be tough to beat next year....I have to lose some weight to get my times down.....I never did get those 5 pounds off I was shooting for....Dillon pulled like a horse and was strong all the way...We passed a team right at the end...Everything becomes a blur, but the finish line pictures show him behind me....Maybe he got distracted....I never felt like he was slowing down.  Thank you...Thank you....Thank you.  Mark DePiano

As always, thanks so much for all of your hard work.  Boo and I had a wonderful time!!!  Ron Reich

Great job, once again, with the H & H Run!  Such a feat of organizing I never did see!  As usual, I had fun and it seemed that everyone else did too.  Thank you for inviting me to participate.  Myrna Moran, volunteer

First of all, thanks to both of you for helping me to participate in the race.  I’m glad Lexi is feeling better and special thanks to John for giving up his place so I could run with Daisy.  Much appreciated.

I saw the picture of Shelley and I just near the finish. I’m relieved that the picture came out.  You’ll notice in the picture that Daisy is just cutting me off and the next instant, I almost tripper over her!  Fortunately, nothing bad happened to Daisy and the photographer didn’t take the shot a moment later.  Thanks again for a fantastic race and for all your help. Best regards,  Robin Dawson

Hi I did get to the park on Saturday to watch the race and pick up the shirt and goodie bag. Really nice assortment of snacks the swedish fish went first of course! Thanks, Joe Jasinski

Congratulations on another fabulous event! It was SO MUCH FUN as always.  I met 4 new volunteers on the 1-mile rest stop, and got to catch up with Danuta, Ruth and Barbara again.  I look forward to seeing you in 2011!  All best, Denise Carlson

Congrats on another successful race! I loved seeing all those adorable dogs.  Marie Quinn volunteer

Throughout my running career, Ive done over 100 marathons, triathlons and everything down to 5K's and I was incredibly impressed by the level of organization and enthusiasm by you and all your volunteers. An absolutely first class event run so smoothly with 150 dogs of all sizes participating, you made it look easy. Bodhi and I will definitely be back next year!!  Thanks so much.. Bob Karp, Daily Record

I am happy to help, it is always so much fun to see the dogs running with their people.   There was an article in the Courier News on Saturday, have you seen it?  Barbara Baumann, volunteer

So good to see you.  What a great day, everyone was so happy,so many wagging tails.  I'm so glad that Sparky made it to the paws from the past, I know his time is coming but he's such a lover and he really enjoys being with all his canine friends. Unfortunately had to leave early to catch some friends performing a middle eastern cavern routine at noon.  But I saw the start it just so uplifting to see how much fun everyone can have.   I keep thinking about adopting a young companion for Sparky but then I think about taking care of two dogs by myself. Maybe I should just take Sparky to the dog park more often. Best wishes, Susie Duncan

Thanks to YOU, Barbara for all your hard work, which has now netted St. Hubert’s over $100,000!  In addition, it’s really a great day and I always hear people say how they wouldn’t miss it for anything!  It’s so much fun to be a part of it, and we’re all very grateful to you.  Carolyn Curry, Director of Community Services and race volunteer

Thanks again for all that you do to organize the race.  In addition to being a great event, you also get to meet some of the nicest people you’ll ever come across.  Take care.  Jim Galbraith

As you might imagine, I am quite pleased with my time for the run - much thanks to Ryan!  I take back any of my earlier complaints... whatever ambivalence Ryan may have exhibited at the start of the run, he totally made up for it once he encountered Daisy and decided he was on his way back to the folks he loves - with his sister in tow!

It was a glorious day.  Margo and are so appreciative of the opportunity we had to run with the rest.  Thanks again for all of your effort to pair us up with dogs who needed runners.  I was so honored to run with your sleek, athletic Ryan.  What a thrilling morning for everyone.  You did a tremendous job.  And as I've said before, your interest and recollection of individual participants and their dogs and circumstances is remarkable - also very touching.  I really love the Paws from the Past, and can't help getting a bit choked up as I watch these elderly veterans take to the trail for a few labored steps.  It is moving to see them at later stages of life, their glory behind them.

I hope you have taken some time to rest and recuperate from all of the energy, planning, and executing you poured out to see this year's Hounds & Harriers event through.  Again, what a truly wonderful day for all of us with our dogs.  Gratefully, Shelley Prebenda

Congratulations on another successful race!  Lynda Boynton volunteer and co director Giralda Farms Run

Thanks again to Joe Sikora for running with Mandie....I think she had the best day of her life.  Mark DePiano

A special thank you for seeing me through my first H&H Run since loosing my beloved Shadow.  I was worried about how I might keep it together…and Ryan kept me going, smiling, “coaxing”, and helped me maintain my focus on my canine companion and the race.  Thanks you Ryan!  Love, Shelly Prebenda

Congrats on a well done race. I read the article and saw the film clips. Had to laugh, some were running just holding on to their dog while others were dragging them along, trying to keep them focused. And you raised good money too, more than 12,000 dollars I believe it was. The weather looked nice also.  Hilsen fra, Grete Waitz

Although only 3 years old, this was my son Quinn’s third Hounds and Harriers event!  He actually talks about it all the time, and asks just about every weekend if we are going to the doggie race!  Thank you once again for putting on such a wonderful event.  Everyone enjoys it so much, and we look forward to it all year (especially Otter).  Thanks again for everything, Chris Joralemon

We had such an awesome time again. I love coming each year!!!! Thanks again for all your hard work to make the day so special for everyone :) Laurie Chiafullo

Thanks for another great race.  Hounds and Harriers is my favorite, the most fun and best organized.  I think every race should be a dog race.  Thanks to your links on the website, Bernadette and I ran the Paws and Feet at Cherry Hill in May.  Bernadette was the first dog that finished and I was the first woman.  We have also applied for the 2011 NYC Iams Doggy Dash and are waiting to see if we get in.  Thanks again.  Wendy Rieger
